First Month Checkpoint

Monday was Kyra's 15th birthday. The school here is too strict to let us pull her out to do something fun. However, we still had a great time. Kyra got two books and the Hobbit which came out on DVD here so she was very excited! One birthday family tradition Jörg's family had growing up was to make a ring of stuff (usually sweets) around their plate, made of things they like. Kyra had flower petals, gummy bears and chocolate!

Tuesday, we played a game called ??? at break (one, two, three)! The catcher counts to twenty-five and the rest of us hide. Then, if the catcher sees you sneaking around, he runs to an object that was decided before and says "one, two, three" and if you do the same before the catcher, you wait for everyone else too. The game was really fun and I made it to the object most of the time.

Wednesday I played with Tom again. He taught me several origami models. One was "Prince Charming", a talking frog. We played with them for a while but then he showed me the pig model. The pink paper reminded me of Pablo! Some others he taught me were a howling dog, a talking bird, and one he imagined himself! But all too soon, I had to go. I hope to get together with him some more soon because I have a ton of fun.

  1. Hi Colman. This is CJ. This is the first time I have spoken to you since you have been in Germany. It sounds like that you have had a fun time with Tom. Has Tom taught you other origami besides what you have listed? Do you have pictures? TOday in band we got our band t-shirts. They are turqouise shirts. The design is a fermata with the saying "HOLD ME" beneath it with TMS 2013. I went to the City of Rocks with my scout troop last weekend. I missed you, I wished you had been there it was so much fun. I will talk again soon. CJ

  3. Colman,
It sounds like you are having some wonderful experiences. I told Rikki about your Karate and she was excited for you. She just got her Red Belt this week. She is one away from her goal of a black belt. She will take some time off this summer though because she is expecting a baby in November. I am tending for Janette, and I hear Kian waking up so I had better take care of his needs. I love reading your blog. It reminds me of when I lived in Germany. Keep having fun. SLY GrandmaB

  4. Hi Colman! Sounds like another great week and what a great friend you've found in Tom! I agree with CJ -- post pics of the origami! Grampa was just sharing your experience with raising and showing Pablo the other day with someone!! We just finished sealing Kyra's birthday card -- yes, we're late -- but please tell her to be on the look-out for it! Spring has finally arrived for good here and we are so happy to see it. Wishing you a great week ahead and look forward to hearing all about it!! Our love to everyone there. xo

It is OK that you are late with Kyra's B-Day, I am shure she won't mind. After all, it's only a little past her B-Day. I will tell everyone you said hi and you love them.
I love you and miss you both, Colman
